Mental Health Support Built for Changemakers
Climate-aware, justice-informed and radically affirming psychotherapy, coaching and facilitation for people engaged in and affected by the world we live in
Hi, I'm Parker Bowling, LCSW, MSSW
Psychotherapist, coach and facilitator
Feelings of deep distress about the climate crisis, genocides, systemic injustices and political upheaval are rational responses to the irrational circumstances we find ourselves in.
Aware that our mental health and the world that we're apart of are inextricably interconnected, I offer climate and collapse-aware approaches to psychotherapy and coaching that welcome your entire Self, including all of the identities, experiences, relationships and systems that affect your life.

Our mental health doesn't exist in a bubble
Effective psychotherapy and counseling is inherently intersectional. I have experience supporting people to navigate a wide range of challenges, including:
depression
bipolar
anxiety
pmdd
ptsd
developmental trauma
ocd
life transitions
relationship issues
family planning
substance use
gender affirmation
career counseling
grief
existential questioning

My approach

My approach
Techniques from evidence-based therapies like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) & Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Trauma-sensitive mindfulness, including MBCT, Insight & Plum Village practices
Person-centered therapy weaving together humanistic, somatic, & existential approaches that center you as the expert of your own experience
Buddhist psychology and its intersections with eco-psychology and The Work That Reconnects
Affirming & culturally informed care
for clients identifying as BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA, including gender and poly affirming care
Our work together
We will co-create our work together so it is dynamic and evolving to best meet your self-identified needs and aspirations. By cultivating a space where all of your lived experiences are welcomed and included, therapy and coaching can offer a fluidity that matches the nuances and ever-changing nature of life. Some sessions may be focused on existential doom about the state of the world, some may be focused on difficulties in your relationships and some may weave through a dozen of different topics and challenges. I take a client-centered and strengths-based approach that is guided by your own intuitive wisdom and needs rather than treatment plans and standardized protocols.
I enjoy working with people who are engaged in change-making of all sorts and am committed to creating an inclusive environment for anyone who has felt marginalized in other mental health spaces. I ensure a high level of confidentiality for all clients, including if you're working in politically sensitive capacities. Rather than being a stoic blank screen, I view myself as a partner on your journey and am open to sharing my own lived experiences in our sessions if we both feel it is relevant and appropriate.
Services
Individual psychotherapy, counseling and coaching
Sustainer
$130-150
(≈128€ or 110£)
Base
$120
(≈103€ or 90£)
Concession
$80
(≈69€ or 60£)
Difference between services: Psychotherapy tends to be longer-term clinical mental health support focused on understanding and healing long-held patterns and challenges. Counseling is also clinical mental health support but focused more on addressing specific challenges and tends to be briefer. Coaching is not clinical mental health support nor a replacement for it. Instead, coaching focuses on finding solutions and taking action towards greater well-being. Please feel free to reach out below to see which might be the best fit for your current needs.
Areas of service: I offer coaching to clients across the world, including throughout the US. I offer psychotherapy and counseling to clients located in countries that allow it, including the UK, most of the Global South and many countries in the EU. Please reach out to see if your country allows this. For US residents, I am only able to offer clinical psychotherapy and counseling to people residing in KY, VA and VT at this time. I am in-network for Optum (United), Aetna and Cigna in KY, VT and VA and can provide a superbill for other insurance companies for out-of-network reimbursement Both coaching and clinical services are offered via 50-min video sessions.
Pricing structure: Aware of the vast inequities in income and wealth distribution, I operate on a sliding-scale model that is transparent and redistributive. The base rate is the average rate needed to sustain my well-being, business costs and unpaid voluntary work. I invite people from higher-income countries with access to higher income and/or wealth to consider paying the sustainer rate in order to support people who have lower incomes and/or wealth to access the concession rates. If you feel able to contribute somewhere between the above rates (ie you can afford $95 but not $120), that is also welcome and supports more people to access more affordable rate for themselves. In addition, I reserve a few low-fee rates below $80; please inquire in the form below for availability. Please note that all services are charged in US dollars but can be converted to most currencies and paid via credit card, PayPal or in some cases bank transfer.
Free consultation: Please reach out on the form below or email me at parker@parkerbowling.com to ask any questions or to schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation to see if we might be a good fit to work together. I'm always happy to discuss how we can make therapy, counseling or coaching accessible for you.
Radical Resilience and Employee Wellness Programs
Feelings of deep distress about the climate crisis, mass violence and systemic injustices are rational responses to the irrational circumstances we find ourselves in. This is particularly true for people working daily to create much needed change. As it becomes increasingly difficult for individuals to access affordable and effective mental health services, I believe that collaborations between clinicians, organizations and employees can make care more accessible.
Aware that our mental health and the world that we're apart of are inextricably interconnected, I offer comprehensive well-being programs that proactively cultivate a culture of resilience, compassion and care while actively responding to the inevitable mental health impacts of working amidst the crises of our time.
Services and pricing
I offer a sliding-scale pricing model that is tailored to the nature and resources of your organization. Below is my base rate for various services; this rate is the average I need to sustain my well-being, business costs and unpaid voluntary work. I encourage organizations that can pay more to do so in order for me to also work with organizations that need to pay below the base rate.
1 | Individual counseling sessions
One-to-one clinical support on a secure online platform. These sessions can be focused on specific issues or more comprehensive mental health support. Some organizations opt for a cost-sharing model with their employees for individual counseling; for example employees will pay $30 per session and employers will pay the remaining $70. Employers usually offer a set number of sessions per employee per year.
I am currently licensed to provide counseling to US residents located in VA, KY, VT and FL. I am able to provide counseling to people residing in other countries that allow it, including the UK, most of the Global South and many EU countries.
Base rate: $130 / 50 min session (≈112€ or 98£)
2 | Group facilitation
Climate cafes, counseling groups, Work That Reconnects workshops, trauma-informed mindfulness courses and customized workshops on request.

Half day or day-long resilience retreats integrating various workshops and offerings for individuals, dyads, small groups, and large group interactions and reflections.
